Privacy
We measure the site, not the person.
Descent runs its own analytics on its own hardware. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or handed to an analytics vendor. There is no consent banner on this site because nothing is stored on your device to consent to.
Who runs this
This site and its analytics are operated by Drünik BV. The software isUmami, an open-source analytics package, self-hosted at umami.lav.ren on private infrastructure. No third-party scripts load on these pages, and no analytics company, advertising network or data broker receives anything.
Nothing is stored on your device
The tracker sets no cookies and writes nothing to localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB. The only value it reads is the opt-out flag described below, and only if you set it. Requests are sent withcredentials: "omit", so no cookie travels with them.
The EU cookie rule governs storing or reading information on your device. This site does neither, which is why you are not being interrupted by a banner.
What is collected
- Pages requested: path, page title and referring URL.
- Browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language.
- Approximate location — country, region and city — derived from your IP address.
- Core Web Vitals: LCP, FCP, CLS, INP and TTFB, plus time on page.
- Clicks on elements explicitly tagged for counting, such as the waitlist form.
- A sampled session recording, covering roughly 15% of visits.
Session recordings and heatmaps
Around one visit in seven is recorded. A recording is not video and not a capture of your screen — the page structure and its text are re-serialised and replayed, which is how we find out where a layout fails people. Form fields are masked inside your browser before anything is transmitted: the tracker substitutes asterisks at capture time, so what you type never leaves your device. Heatmaps are aggregates built from those recordings; no individual session is identifiable in them.
How a visit is identified
Each visit carries a one-way hash of your IP address, browser user-agent, hostname and site ID. The hash is not reversible into an IP address and is not reused on any other site, so you are not tracked between websites. Your IP address is processed to generate that hash and to resolve the approximate location above.
Stated plainly rather than marketed: an IP address is personal data under the GDPR, and a hash derived from one is pseudonymous, not anonymous. The lawful basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) — understanding how our own product site performs. You can object at any time, and the opt-out below does that immediately.
Retention
Analytics records are kept until deleted manually. No automatic expiry is configured.
Your rights
You may request access to data concerning you, request erasure, or object to collection. Because a visit is keyed only by an irreversible hash, we generally cannot isolate your records from anyone else's — which is the point of the design, and why the opt-out is the reliable remedy. For anything else, emailcontact@drunik.be.
Opt out
This sets one flag in this browser on this device, which the tracker checks before sending anything. It is the only thing this site ever writes locally.
